MilanKnot

These terms are the agreement between you and us about using MilanKnot. Using the app means you accept them.
Who we are
MilanKnot is operated and is trading as HemlaDella in India.
What MilanKnot is, and what it is not
MilanKnot is a place to find a marriage match. We show you profiles, let you express interest, and let you talk to people who are interested back.
We are an introduction service, not a matchmaker and not a guarantor. We do not vet families, verify claims about income or education, investigate anybody's background, or arrange marriages. A high compatibility score is a calculation from what two people have typed in; it is not advice, and it is not a recommendation.
Who may use it
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be legally free to marry under the law that applies to you.
- You must be a real person creating a profile for yourself, or managing one for a family member with their knowledge and agreement.
- One person may hold one profile. A family may manage more than one, for different people - up to three on one account.
What you tell us must be true
This is the part that matters most, because everything else depends on it. People on MilanKnot are making a decision about the rest of their lives from what you have written.
- Your name, age, gender, marital status and photographs must be your own and accurate.
- Photographs must be of you, recent enough to be recognisable, and yours to upload.
- You must not impersonate anybody, invent a profile, or create one for a person who has not agreed to it.
Your name, date of birth and gender can be corrected for the first seven days after signing up, and are fixed after that. Religion, community, mother tongue and gothra can be changed only occasionally. This is to stop somebody presenting as one person to match, and then becoming another.
What you must not do
- Harass, threaten, abuse or stalk anybody.
- Send sexual content, or any photograph a reasonable person would not want to receive.
- Ask for or solicit money, investments, gifts, or help with any financial matter.
- Use MilanKnot to advertise, recruit, or promote anything.
- Share anybody's photographs, messages or contact details outside the app without their agreement.
- Screenshot, copy or circulate another member's photographs.
- Collect information about members by automated means.
- Attempt to break, probe or work around the app's security or its limits.
Finishing your profile
Families decide from what a profile says, so an empty one wastes their time.
- You have 7 days after signing up to reach 70% complete. After that, a profile below 70% is hidden from other members, and you will not see matches until it is finished.
- A profile that has not reached 70% within 30 days of signing up is deleted.
- A profile that reached 70% and later falls below it is hidden at once, and deleted after 7 days unless it is completed again.
- Very short or meaningless answers - a single word in "About you", for example - do not count toward completeness.
We warn you in the app, and by email, before anything is deleted. These numbers may change; the app always shows the ones that apply to you.
Limits
To protect members from being pestered, there are limits on how much one person can send: a daily number of interests and shortlists, and in any one conversation, no more than 10 messages in a row without a reply, 20 a minute, or 100 a day.
Your photographs and what you write
What you upload stays yours. By uploading it you give us permission to store it and to show it to other members according to your privacy settings, for as long as your account exists. That permission ends when you delete the photograph or your account.
Uploaded photographs are screened for explicit content before other members can see them. A photograph the automatic check cannot clear is held until one of our moderators has reviewed it, and one that is not accepted is shown only to you, with the reason. Photographs carry a faint watermark identifying the member viewing them, so that a leaked image can be traced back.
Reporting, blocking and suspension
You can block any member, which hides you from each other, and report anybody whose behaviour breaks these terms.
We may remove content, suspend an account or close it if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken. Where we can, we will say why. For serious cases, in particular anything involving safety, money or a child, we may act immediately and without notice.
Meeting people
Take the same care you would with any stranger. Meet in a public place the first time. Tell somebody in your family where you are going. Do not send money to anyone you have met here, for any reason, however convincing the story. We never ask members for money on behalf of another member.
We do not conduct background checks and cannot confirm that anybody is who they say they are. What happens between members, on the app or away from it, is between them.
Charges
MilanKnot is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features we will say so in the app before anything is charged. Any charge will be stated clearly before you agree to it.
Keeping the app up to date
We may require a minimum version of the app in order to sign in, so that everybody is using a build with the current safety rules and privacy protections.
Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time from My Profile, or as described at Delete your account. Your profile, photographs, messages and contact details are deleted; stored photograph files within a day.
Our responsibility
We provide MilanKnot as it is. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, that it will find you a match, or that the information another member has given is true.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what members do, for decisions you make about a match, or for anything that happens between people who met here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will say so in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use MilanKnot after that means you accept the change.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Vapi, Gujarat have jurisdiction.
